Modest midget is the brainchild of Lionel Ziblat, guitarist, singer and composer from South America currently residing in the netherlands.
Lionel also writes in a variety of other styles, classical aswell as contemporary.
The name “Modest midget” is a reference to Gentle giant, obviously a group much appreciated.
Modest Midget can be described as a private inspiration god. He is quite a peculiar individual who holds the habbit of appearing every once in a while out of nowhere, and for no reason.
Every time he does, new music comes along.
We fear that he will eventualy come asking for his royalties. But till then, we take it by ear.
Lionel started off his musical life as a rock guitar player. He then turned to learn some jazz guitar and then he Mastered his compositional abilities, finishing a second degree in the Utrecht conservatory.
He also works as a contemporary composer for ensembles and orchestra's of different levels and genres.
At this point he is also taking his first dip into the world of film music.
A strong influence of South American music, like the Argentinean Chamame & Chararera is very clearly heard in his music. His up-bringing in Israel left its impression too.
Modest Midget combines the corner stones of Rock music with a strong a flavour of many folklore styles and contemporary classical influence (Hence the toe in our homepage...)
